Oliver Twist

I dont think that a book with such a description of a Jew would be published today.
These days we are more careful whit what we say and what we wright about other religions. If the book would be published I think that many people would thought that the description was very unnecessary and maybe a little stupid.
To describe a character in a book by calling him "The Jew" makes it more of an insult than a name, and because he calls a person "the Jew" it makes you think that all Jews are the same. Which they are not.
And the description of "the Jew" does not make it much better. He writes "the Jew have a Villainous-looking face.” That you can recognize a jew on their faces is just an old preconception.
Its unnecessary to call Fagin the jew insted of just his name. If it would be like that, I would not have a problem whit the rest of the description because its just a character.

The Jews certainly not had it so easy in the history and if the book would be publicead I'm sure people would react negative and that Jews would defend themselves by trying to get rid of the book or retouch the book or something.
